Have You Ever Dated a Tree?

Dendrochronology is the science of tree-ring analysis. At its simplest, dendrochronology involves counting rings and dating individual trees. However, analyses usually go far beyond this, involving both quantitative (measurements) and qualitative (visual) examination of the different components of rings and comparing those measurements and observations against a number of climate variables. Dendrochronological analysis is used in climatology, disturbance ecology, history, anthropology and can even be used to study landslides and tsunamis.
