Since the 2024-25 Free Application for Federal Student Aid application opened later than previous years, the priority deadline has been extended to March 1, which is when students are recommended to complete the application.
Completing the FAFSA, which is available now, is important to determine eligibility for state and institutional aid.
Students can find more information on some of the key changes made to the 2024-25 application on the Federal Student Aid website.
“No additional information should be needed other than what has been previously used when completing the form, and the form probably requires the same or slightly less time to complete,” said Matt Sanchez, director of the financial aid and scholarships at NDSU.
The financial aid office expects other dates will be affected, including when incoming freshmen can anticipate receiving a student aid award letter in the mail.
“Our initial estimate is that award letters will come out in mid-April versus mid-March, but that is the current estimate and may get adjusted if needed,” Sanchez said.
