With this academic year’s Welcome Week having concluded, we asked a few students about their favorite activity and what they’re most looking forward to in the months ahead.

NAME: Ella Mulder
YEAR: Senior
MAJOR: Microbiology
HOMETOWN: Mission Hill, South Dakota

What’s your favorite activity during Welcome Week?
Tie-dye night. And I also love the block party.

What are you looking forward to the most this school year?
I’m very busy this semester, and I’m looking forward to staying occupied and being a part of multiple different things, like intramurals. I’m on the intramural sand volleyball team.

Why did you choose NDSU?
I chose NDSU for the microbiology program. My favorite thing about campus in general is that everyone’s very welcoming. It’s easy to talk to people and relate to people.

NAME: Malayah Griffin
YEAR: Junior
MAJOR: Social work
HOMETOWN: Minneapolis, Minnesota

What’s your favorite activity during Welcome Week?
When I was a freshman, my favorite thing was the first day of Welcome Week and just getting to know everyone. I liked the Saturday Night Live event. They had succulents, painting and all sorts of things. It was nice going with people who lived in the same building and get to know other people.

What are you looking forward to the most this school year?
I’m looking forward to all of the events that are going on around campus. I’m very excited for Black Student Association, which is going to have a lot of events and it’s going to be a lot of fun. I joined my freshman year. I really love the space. I became president my sophomore year, took a year off last year and I’m now back again as the president.

Why did you choose NDSU?
The community is very close-knit. People are very welcoming and it’s very nice. There’s everything here; resources, lots of clubs. There’s more than you think.

NAME: Nicola Pavia
YEAR: Junior
MAJOR: Accounting
HOMETOWN: Plymouth, Minnesota

What’s your favorite activity during Welcome Week?
I really like the block party, that was fun.

What are you looking forward to the most this school year?
Meeting new people, learning new things and new opportunities.

Why did you choose NDSU?
I chose NDSU because I’m from the Twin Cities, so it’s somewhat close to home, but it’s also far enough that I’m exploring a new metro area. It’s also inexpensive compared to a lot of other universities.

NAME: Zoe Mckinven
YEAR: Senior
MAJOR: Political science
HOMETOWN: Harvey, North Dakota

What’s your favorite activity during Welcome Week?
Walking through the gates when I was a freshman.

What are you looking forward to the most this school year?
I’m really looking forward to Homecoming, I enjoy the parade. I’m also looking forward to NDSU tailgating.

Why did you choose NDSU?
I chose NDSU because I’m from North Dakota and I really like Fargo. After I toured here it just felt like home. My brother also was going here.
