NDSU benefactors commit record amount ahead of Giving Day

NDSU friends and alumni have pledged more than $740,000 ahead of the university’s fifth annual Giving Day on Tuesday, Dec. 1. It is a record number of matching funds and challenges ahead of the event.

The online, grassroots fundraising campaign is a one-day opportunity to make a lasting impact at NDSU. "Gifts from NDSU Giving Day are a critical investment in student success," said NDSU President Dean L. Bresciani. "Our extraordinary benefactors empower students to thrive and help build a better future for North Dakota."

Each gift made on NDSU’s Giving Day will count toward the $400 million goal of In Our Hands: The Campaign for North Dakota State University, which publicly launched in October 2019. The comprehensive campaign to enhance students’ educational experience is the largest in the history of higher education in North Dakota and has raised nearly $378 million as of Oct. 31.

“Your support for NDSU students is needed now more than ever,” said John Glover, president and CEO of the NDSU Foundation. “Giving Day matches and challenges multiply your gift’s impact across campus. When you give a gift on Giving Day, you lift up all of NDSU.”

In 2019, alumni and friends raised $939,044 to support NDSU — $53,000 more than Giving Day 2018. The day of giving recorded 1,313 unique gifts in 2019, which also surpassed the previous year’s total.

Donations will be accepted on the Giving Day website from 11 p.m. CST Monday, Nov. 30, through 2 a.m. CST Wednesday, Dec. 2.
