NDSU's Women and Gender Studies program and the Department of History, Philosophy and Religious Studies are scheduled to host a virtual Women's History Month event on Wednesday, March 3, at 6 p.m.
"Remembering the 1977 National Women's Conference" is a discussion with three women who served as delegates at the first and only government-funded conference on gender equality. Tin Myaing Thein, Cindy Phillips and Bonnie Wallace represent diverse groups of women who participated in the conference from Hawaii, North Dakota and Minnesota respectively.
The speakers will discuss their experiences in creating a comprehensive national plan of action that aimed at addressing barriers to equality that diverse groups of women experience as well as the conference's impact on the Women's Movement and their lifelong activism.
The event will be livestreamed through YouTube. See the Women and Gender Studies homepage for the link.
The program is free to the public.
