NDSU is set to offer a Nice Craft workshop, titled “The Creator Economy,” to introduce participants to Non-fungible Tokens, known as NFTs. The event is sponsored by The Nice Center at NDSU and is scheduled for Wednesday, March 24, at 1 p.m.

The workshop will feature designer, coder, blogger and entrepreneur Shea Newkirk. He is featured in CryptoStache You Tube programming, with nearly 11,000 subscribers. Newkirk also operates cryptostache.com where he provides tutorials and information on bitcoin, NFTs and other topics.

“NFTs are a new way for artists and creators to get paid. For any young person who wants to create something digitally, knowing how to use NFTs will provide a path towards making their passion a business,” said Scott Meyer, Ozbun Executive Director of Entrepreneurship at the Nice Center. “We’re excited to host this event at The Nice Center and have NDSU be the first university in the country to teach students how to use NFTs.

NFTs provide new ways to verify authenticity of digital work using blockchain technology. This has created new markets and ways to sell and own artistic work, as evidenced by artist Beeple selling an NFT this month for a record $69 million.

Workshop attendees will learn such things as how to create a wallet to hold NFTs, how to use the NFT marketplace and how to create your own NFT.

The one-hour workshop is free, but participants are asked to register.
