NDSU’s Challey Institute for Global Innovation and Growth is set to host a free screening of the award-winning documentary “They Say It Can’t Be Done” Tuesday, Aug. 17, at the Fargo Theatre, 314 Broadway N. The film is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m., followed by a discussion with producer and filmmaker Patrick Reasonover.
The event is free and open to the public. Tickets are available on Facebook and Eventbrite or at ndsu.edu/challeyinstitute/events
“They Say It Can’t Be Done” explores how innovation can solve challenges. The film tracks four companies on the cutting edge of technological solutions to problems such as climate change, organ waitlists, factory farming and world hunger. Each company shares an inspiring story of innovation and creativity, but all face a common roadblock – a regulatory system that could impede their pathway to success. The film examines the difficulties entrepreneurs face when technological innovation outpaces regulation.
After the film, Reasonover will share insights from the filmmaking process and answer audience questions. In addition to being the lead producer on “They Say It Can’t Be Done,” he has produced more than 300 animated, documentary, virtual reality and narrative projects.
“I’m looking forward to a productive discussion about these issues by the local community, and I hope the film will inspire people to think about the great possibilities for innovation to spur future progress,” said John Bitzan, Menard Family Director of the Challey Institute.
The film screening is sponsored by the Sheila and Robert Challey Institute for Global Innovation and Growth and the Regulatory Transparency Project.
