The NDSU Center for Writers is set to hold a memorial observance for former English department lecturer Chandice Johnson on Tuesday, April 19, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the McGovern Alumni Center. The ceremony also can be accessed via Zoom.
Johnson was instrumental in establishing the Center for Writers in 1994 and served as the first director until his retirement in 1999.
After he died in October 2020, the Johnson family commemorated his support of collaborative learning by donating funds to create the Chandice Johnson Writing Fellow position at the Center for Writers. Isabella Anderson, a senior majoring in English education with a minor in history, is the first Johnson fellow.
The short memorial program will include light refreshments. An open microphone also will be provided to share a memory or give a tribute. Alternatively, you can email your thoughts to enrico.sassi@ndsu.edu.
