NDSU’s apparel, retail merchandising and design program has announced its initial Reusable Bag Design Contest. Event information has been shared with several area high schools and students at NDSU.
The event is open to high school and college students.
“The contest is to promote our program mission – ‘We prepare students to be problem solvers and leaders who create and manage products, people, services and experiences for the global marketplace.’ Sustainability is a major focus in our curriculum,” said Jaeha Lee, program coordinator and professor. “Our program seeks to provide students with an opportunity to advocate for sustainable consumption and take part in developing sustainable products by designing a reusable bag. The winning design will be printed on reusable bags, and the profits from sales will go toward student scholarships.”
Three finalists will be invited to the 2022 Fashion Apparel and Business Organization Fashion Show. The winner is scheduled to be announced Wednesday, April 27, at noon in the NDSU Memorial Union Ballroom.
“I hope students gain real-world design experience in problem solving and practicing design skills,” Lee said. “The contest encourages students to be creative while addressing a problem stated in the contest rules by following specified guidelines.”
The winning entry will earn a $500 award. The deadline to enter is April 18.
