The annual Take Back the Night march and rally against sexual violence is scheduled for Wednesday, April 6 in the Memorial Union’s Oceti Sakowin Ballroom. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., with the event beginning at 6:15 p.m.

The event is sponsored by the Violence Prevention Educators and the Sexual Assault Prevention and Advocacy program at NDSU.

All students, faculty, staff and community members are invited to participate.

Participants can come early to learn about local organizations involved in supporting survivors, visit tables, participate in sign making and Denim Day activities and learn what they can do to prevent violence. An open mic session is planned for survivors to share their stories immediately following the march.

“April is Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month, so NDSU is taking the opportunity to kick off a month of activities and education with our annual Take Back the Night march and rally,” said Megan Talcott, sexual assault prevention and advocacy coordinator at NDSU. “Take Back the Night is a time to empower and support survivors as we work towards a world free from violence.”

Take Back the Night t-shirts will be sold at this year’s event, with proceeds benefiting the Rape and Abuse Crisis Center. T-shirts can be purchased online before March 30.
