The NDSU Counseling Center has scheduled its annual open house event for Wednesday, Aug. 31, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. The center is located at the Stop and Go Center, 1919 University Drive N., Suite 1, while its normal Ceres Hall location is being remodeled.
You are encouraged to meet center staff and graduate student trainees, visit the new location (which includes the new Relaxation Room), enjoy refreshments and spend time with therapy dogs from the Fargo-Moorhead area.
The Relaxation Room is designed so students can decompress in a massage chair or oversized bean bag while listening to relaxing music and videos in a softly-lit room. Sensory items like kinetic sand, a Zen Garden, fidget toys and a water feature enrich the experience of the room. A variety of self-care games, journals, brain teasers and mindfulness or relaxation related color books also are available.
The room is funded through a grant from NDSU Student Government. It is available to all registered NDSU students and opens for student use on Monday, Aug. 22.
Students can reserve the room for 45-minute sessions by calling 231-7671. Students may use the room individually, or a maximum of three students may be in the room at a time. One reservation per student will be allowed per week.
As a student-focused, land-grant, research university, we serve our citizens.
