NDSU’s Sheila and Robert Challey Institute for Global Innovation and Growth is set to host a presentation by technology expert Mark Mills titled “Technology and the Future: The ’20s Will (Yet) Roar.”
The talk is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 2, at 4 p.m. in Richard H. Barry Hall’s Louise S. Barry Auditorium. A reception with light hors d’oeuvres is set for 5:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Mills is a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute and co-founder of Montrose Lane, a software-centric energy-tech venture fund. He will draw on his new book, “The Cloud Revolution: How the Convergence of New Technologies Will Unleash the Next Economic Boom and a Roaring 2020s,” to illuminate a radical and optimistic vision for what’s coming next. The first 100 attendees will receive a free copy of Mills’ book.
“Mark Mills is addressing many issues important to North Dakota and the world—science, technology, energy and supply chains. At a time when people are anxious about the future, I encourage everyone to come hear why he believes we are on the verge of an economic boom,” said John Bitzan, Menard Family Director of the Challey Institute.
Participants can attend in person or online via Zoom.
Mills is the author of three books and host of the new podcast “The Last Optimist.” He previously cofounded Digital Power Capital and was chair and CTO of ICx Technologies, and he served in the White House Science Office under President Ronald Reagan. He holds a degree in physics from Queen’s University, Ontario, Canada.
The presentation, co-sponsored by the Challey Institute and Dakota Digital Academy, is part of the Menard Family Distinguished Speaker Series. The series invites world thought leaders to share their ideas with the NDSU community on big questions that explore ways to improve the human condition and create economic opportunity. The next speaker is Magatte Wade on Nov. 30.
