Why hasn’t my financial aid disbursed?
Your financial aid may be delayed or canceled because of one or more of the following reasons:
- You did not accept or decline your financial aid offer through Campus Connection.
- You did not complete your Master Promissory Note (MPN) at StudentAid.gov.
- You did not complete Loan Entrance Counseling at StudentAid.gov.
- Your FAFSA was selected for Verification and you have not submitted all requested documents.
- All required first-year application documents have not been submitted to the Office of Admission such as an official final high school transcript, ACT or SAT, college transcript(s),etc.
- Your scholarship hasn’t been received by NDSU or is still being processed.
- We are waiting on a private student lender to send us the funds.
I received a confirmation email that my FAFSA has been completed. Why doesn’t NDSU have it?
Your FAFSA may not have been processed by NDSU because of one or more of the following reasons:
- NDSU was not listed as one of the schools you wanted your FAFSA to go to.
- You completed the FAFSA for the wrong academic year.
- You are determined to be “dependent” based on information received from the FAFSA and contributor information is missing.
- Your FAFSA is missing either the student or contributor signatures.
- You or your contributor didn’t consent to allow federal tax information to be imported from the IRS.
- You indicated you are unable to provide contributor information due to a special circumstance. Contact NDSU One Stop to ask what information is needed.
Why did my financial aid change?
The University reserves the right to adjust your offer on the basis of additional information that may become available, including but not limited to:
- Information on the FAFSA was corrected by either the student or a financial aid administrator through the verification process.
- Enrollment status changed (i.e., changing from full-time to part-time status).
- Notification of tuition waivers, scholarships, grants, or other third-party payments.
NDSU has my FAFSA, but why haven’t I been awarded?
You may not have been awarded because of one or more of the following reasons:
- You do not meet the minimum standards for Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP).
- You have not met the enrollment requirements (i.e., students need to be half-time to receive federal loans).
- You have borrowed the maximum lifetime aggregate amount in Federal Direct Loans.
- You are not enrolled in a degree-seeking program.
- NDSU is requiring documentation to resolve conflicting information on your FAFSA (i.e., citizenship documentation, DD214, etc). Check your “to-do” list for more information.
