North Dakota State Grant program is a state grant based on the information you provide on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Who is eligible for a North Dakota State Grant?
Students must meet the following criteria in order to be eligible to receive the grant:
- Have a valid FAFSA and be Title IV aid eligible.
- North Dakota resident
- Graduate of a North Dakota high school
- Undergraduate student
- Has not previously earned a bachelor's or professional degree
- Demonstrate financial need
- The state grant may not exceed Cost of Attendance (COA)
- Meet college admission requirements
- Are not in default for any federal loans
- Have not received state grant funding for more than eight semester or twelve quarters
- Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
Will I have to pay it back?
No. This award does not have to be repaid.
If I am eligible, what is my next step?
- NDSU will add the award to your Campus Connection account and automatically accept this award for students.
- Your North Dakota State Grant is based on your enrollment status on a specified date and time (as published in the Dates and Deadlines). Plan your registration accordingly or your ND state grant may be adjusted based on your enrolled credits. Wait list classes are not counted as enrolled credits.
- If you have been selected for the Verification process and have not submitted all requested documents, your ND State Grant will not be applied to your charges. Your ND state grant could be cancelled if you do not complete the Verification process in a timely manner.
- The ND state grant is a need-based award and your state grant may be reduced if you have additional resources (such as scholarships) that apply to your account at a later date.
- To remain eligible, you must maintain the requirements of NDSU’s Satisfactory Academic Progress policy.
- You cannot exceed the lifetime eligibility equivalent of eight semesters of full-time, undergraduate enrollment.
