Federal Work-Study Employer Information
The Federal Work-Study Program (FWS) is a federal student aid program that provides funding to support part-time employment opportunities for eligible students. FWS funding helps pay a percentage of the hourly wages earned. The money students earn helps pay for personal and/or educational expenses. Jobs are designed to relate to the student’s course of study and/or encourage community service work whenever possible.
To be eligible to receive a work-study award, students must:
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- Be enrolled (minimum of 6 credits)
- Have demonstrated financial need as determined by the FAFSA
- Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
Work-Study jobs can be either on campus or off campus. All agencies located off campus must be approved by NDSU Financial Aid and Scholarships and be a private, non-profit organization or public agency, and the work performed must be in the public interest.
Detailed information about the program, employer processes and responsibilities, and posting a Work-Study position on the job board, is available from this web site.
