Education

Ph.D., University of Nebraska-Lincoln (2022)

  • Dissertation research focused on the ecology and management of eastern redcedar encroachment in Great Plains grasslands.

M.S., Oklahoma State University (2016)

  • Thesis research focused the ecology of grassland nesting birds.

B.S. Bemidji State University (2013)

  • Senior thesis focused on elk selection of calving sites in the South Dakota Black Hills.

Research Interests

Dr. Fogarty studies rangeland conservation with an emphasis on the ecology and management of woody plant invasion/encroachment. He uses concepts from resilience theory, landscape ecology, invasion biology, and ecosystem service science to better understand how land management can improve environmental outcomes in working landscapes.
