DSV Permits

The DSV permit allows NDSU employees to conduct official business on campus with greater ease. The DSV permit allows NDSU employees to utilize parking lots their current NDSU permit is not valid for. If needed, a department may request a maximum of two (2) DSV permits at no charge. Departments requesting more than two (2) DSV permits shall be billed $50.00 for each additional DSV permit. Departments shall pay for all additional DSV permits via the Inter-Departmental Billing (IDB) form.

A valid NDSU permit (excluding FargoDome) is required to be displayed with the DSV permit in order to be valid. The DSV permit (inconjuction with a valid, NDSU permit) is allowed in all employee lots, student lots and pay lots, within a properly marked space for a maximum of two (2) consecutive hours. DSV permits are not allowed in the following areas: All campus streets, fire lanes, handicap accessible spaces, no parking zones, reserved spaces, State Fleets spaces/lots or time zones. 

NDSU reserves the right to revoke a department’s DSV permit(s) due to unauthorized usage. At no time are departments authorized to create their own department parking permits, nor shall departments distribute or charge fees for unauthorized department parking permits.

Update - Beginning 7/1/2024

  • All NDSU main campus, employee permits (excluding FargoDome permits) are additionally valid in the downtown lots (BH, KH, RH and ELIM) and the Research Park (RP) lots. Please verify your department requires DSV permits before ordering.
  • All NDSU downtown, employee permits (valid in BH, KH, RH and ELIM) are additionally valid in main campus lots T2 and Visitor E. Please verify your department requires DSV permits before ordering.

Annual Renewal of DSV Permit

If departments are in need of DSV permits, the DSV Permit Application will need to be completed annually by each department, beginning July 1st. This can be accomplished by following the steps below.

  1. Review the information above before continuing with the application.
  2. Complete the DSV Permit Application, reading through all of the DSV permit rules and regulations.
  3. Review the NDSU Parking regulations online within the Department Resources menu.
  4. Make sure all employees within your department are familar with the DSV Permit rules and the NDSU Parking regulations.
  5. Once the DSV Permit application is complete, the department will receive the DSV parking permits via campus mail, along with an IDB (if applicable), at the end of July.
